Cross Connection Inspections

Cross Connection Control Program

Residential Cross Connection Inspections

The Village of Grantsburg is required by the Public Service Commission to inspect and test all residential water meters every 10 years.  The Wisconsin DNR also requires an inspection for cross connections in residential properties. The Village of Grantsburg will perform a 10 year meter test and a residential Cross Connection Inspection at the same time when we come to your home. Some examples of what will be inspected include private wells, toilet tanks, boilers, lawn irrigation, exterior faucets, etc. The cross connection code from the WDNR is NR 810.15 and may be reviewed online at the DNR website by clicking here.

We will also be inquiring if you have any of the following: sump pumps, underground fuel tanks and garbage disposals.  Please have that information available when we arrive for your inspection.

Commercial/Industrial/Public Authority

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources requires all commercial properties to have their interior plumbing systems inspected per NR810.15 Cross Connections and Interconnections.  The Village is responsible to implement and ensure this requirement is enforced.  You must furnish proof to our office that your system has been fully inspected and found to be in compliance.

According to the inspections completed in 2007 and the hazard level found, facilities in Grantsburg will be on various inspection intervals (every 2, 6 or 10 years) starting in 2013.  The Village of Grantsburg will contact you when your inspection is due.  If your facility or building experiences significant change in use, this interval may change.  If there were repairs or upgrades required at the last inspection, you can anticipate this year’s cost to be only for the inspector’s fee to confirm you are still in compliance.  Additional plumbing upgrades identified by the inspection will have to be made at your expense by the deadline.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call the Village Office at (715) 463-2405. Thank you!

Painting the North Water Tower June 2012

Painting the North Water Tower June 2012

Lettering was the final step.

Lettering is complete.

Our beautiful newly painted north water tower!

The crew for painting the water tower set up for about 2 weeks.

The tower had to first be cleaned before it could be painted.

Paint was sprayed on from containers at ground level pumped up to the tower.

You can't be afraid of heights for this task!
